Max Max
When I chose him from a box of kittens near Sandbanks Provincial Park, he was just a tiny kitten. He was supposed to come to Australia with us, but it turned out he was a 'rabies non-responder' and would never produce enough antibodies to pass the stringent requirements for animals coming into the country. He ended up with my parents, who had no interest in owning a cat. By the end, he had them wrapped around his little...claw (?) He turned these unlikely folk into Max lovers. They gave him a comfortable home and lots of love. We had to say goodbye to Max last weekend. It's such a terribly hard and devastating thing to do. Thank you so much to my parents for their love and care of Max...he was very happy in Russell and was blessed with an endless supply of love. xoxo

2015
We rang it in in style at the Stamford Grand Glenelg's masquerade ball. Apparently Glenelg is Adelaide's 'premier' NYE destination, with 20 000 people gathering at various Glenelg spots to partake in the revelry. I believe it -Jeremy took this shot of the crowds below on the beach. We were up on a big balcony at the Stamford...very exclusive access to the fireworks.
It was a masquerade ball, and Jeremy and I found awesome masks (including this very sensual/belly dancer one) at a random shop near our place...5 dollars!
Seriously. Look at those masks!
Claire is a fountain of bubbly positive awesomeness! She flew in on the 31st from Melbourne, and flew back to Melbourne today (the 1st) at 5:30 pm...to start her night shift at the hospital at 9:30 pm! It was amazing to have her here for NYE :) I also must include that due to the extreme inexpensiveness of our masks, I bought two of them. This is my cat mask, which is not nearly as sensual as the belly dancer one.
Queen Elizabeth Hospital ex-interns - but friends for life!
A pretty nice backdrop for the end of 2014. I am well aware of how lucky I am!
And how did we spend New Year's Day?
Well...we had breakfast in Semaphore, a gorgeous beach spot. We walked down to the ocean and scorched our feet on the sizzling sand, then cooled them off in the ocean. We went to MJ's apartment in the city and swam in the rooftop pool. We enjoyed a brief walk, taking in the sights of Rundle Mall. I (sadly) dropped Claire off at the airport, and then came home and took down the Christmas tree. Jeremy is in the backyard setting up the shade canopy to go over our pool. As you can see below...it has been a pretty perfect day.
