Blurble blurble

It's funny to see people's status updates which say things like "this weather is really hindering my ability to get into the Christmas spirit". They're not talking about a lack of snow, but instead the fact that it's been raining constantly (and no sign of letting up in the next week, forecast says rain every day!) and it's much cooler than normal for this time of year. Apparently we just had the wettest spring in over 100 years!! We're not complaining...okay fine, we're only complaining a bit. Jeremy is so happy and thinks every rainy, cooler day is a blessing. I enjoy not being saturated with sweat constantly, but being soaked with rain is sometimes only marginally better.

The weekends go by too quickly, even though I have three day weekends. Today (Sunday) was my only day to sleep in out of the three. Friday morning I had a meeting with Anne and Lucy, some of the placement coordinators. It looks like this NZ placement is really really happening! They're pretty excited about it, and so am I. I get to be at a communication group for people with aphasia for the first two weeks, and then the last four weeks in a rehab hospital. EXACTLY what I would have chosen. Sooooo cool! They said I have to take pictures and I'll be "on the circuit' telling other students about the experience when I get back. I was up early again on Sat because I had to update my CPR certification. All the hidden costs in these programs - argh!!! So that was 2 hours of my life that I'm not getting back, but now I have a handy dandy little certificate. After CPR, Hayley, Nicole and I decided to go visit Jules and Chickpea (aka Billy, her 4 week old son). We drove through torrential rain to Jules' new house in Woolloongabba and spent a few hours cuddling the baby and eating large amounts of curry.

This week, we'll finish off our motor speech lectures with the pediatric content (bleeeeeh...not exciting to me...) and then the following week, exams! Exams, end of summer class dinner, and speechie secret Santa. I really like my class!! They're a great bunch. Then two weeks of holidays, six weeks of placement, followed by another week or two of holidays and then year 2, semester 1 begins. I think when that happens, I'll be able to start tasting the closeness of almost being done.............just have to make it through.
