Things we have gotten for free in the last three days:
- FUTON!!!!!!!!!!!! (really good condition, large, sturdy etc)
- desk
- chair
- random magazines
- wicker basket
- salad spinner
- tennis rackets
- painting
Seriously, this is brilliant. It's like a giant garage sale where everything is free! The Brisbane City Council sets aside one day each year per suburb where people can put out their unwanted goods which are large/more than the average rubbish pick-up will take. We had a little prowl around on Sunday and got most of our small items. We helped our friend Lisa bring home an outdoor plastic table which is the one thing she was looking for. Today, we were in a car on the way home and spotted a futon in perfect condition sitting at the side of the road not too far from our house. We passed it by, but both Jeremy and I couldn't stop thinking about it, so we called Lisa and asked for her assistance to get it back to our place. After a pretty decent labour in the heat, we are now the proud owners of a giant futon which I am actually currently sitting on. It solves the problem of "Oh God, my parents, Grandmaman, and cousin Marissa are all supposed to be here at the same time - where will we put them????????????" and also just allows extra random sleeping space for guests. YAY - KERBSIDE KOLLECTION is my new favourite day of the year!
