I'm a bad person, because the article I'm posting below gives me a twinge of glee.  I know that public property should not be vandalized and the speed cameras are meant to extort drivers of millions of hard earned dollars slow people down thus decreasing the amount of car accidents...but really?  Every article I see about the damned things is about how much revenue they are expected generate.  Last week, there was a story about how one single speed camera was raking in approximately $425 000/MONTH.  How can you say there isn't something wrong with that?  I have definitely changed my driving habits - if I catch myself accidentally going 64 in a 60 zone, I immediately slow down and feel grateful that I didn't get caught by a cop or speed camera...how ridiculous!

POLICE are seeking public help to catch those responsible for a spree vandal attacks on numerous speed cameras across Adelaide.
The cameras are being vandalised by high velocity missiles fired at their glass lens, police said.
The are concerned the projectiles could hit other car windscreens and injure people or cause crashes.
Cameras in the western suburbs were targeted overnight after attacks were made in the past few weeks on cameras in the eastern and southern suburbs.
Police refused to release details of the number of cameras damaged or their location but said they are being repaired and made operational as soon as possible.

It is known, however, that the new freeway cameras in the Adelaide Hills have also been attacked twice since Friday.
These hi-tech cameras - located near the Crafers and Mt Osmond interchanges - were switched on nine days ago and are expected to generate more than $1.6 million in fines by the end of this financial year.
Police are examining CCTV footage in a bid to catch the vandals and have appealed for anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers on 1300 333 000.
