This weekend I got to go to another AFL game. I LOVE AFL. It's weird, but I really do. It's kind of like football but so much more interesting. It's just not that the guys are hotter and wearing less either ;) The Australian fans are the best! "So and so is a wanker!" Imagine a bunch of people chanting that at the same time...pretty sure that would never happen in Canada. We had incredible seats, for the best bargain price ever! $17.50 and we were at field level, 5 rows back. It almost doesn't get any better and normally those tickets would sell for $80+! One of the guys in med organized it because his housemate is friends with the head of ticketing at the Gabba Stadium. Props to him - he did a great job and over 80 people were in the med group. Everyone kept asking me where Jeremy was but he opted out...we went to a game last year and it was "the most boring thing ever; I almost fell asleep; the scoring is stupid; the game should only be 15 minutes long" (yes, needless to say, he's not a fan!) He stayed home and studied like a diligent med student.

We also had a wonderful evening Friday night at Sarah and Chantal's for Wendy's birthday. They had a campfire in the backyard and we sat around and chatted. Chantal made a seafood chowder (and Jeremy got his own special homemade chorizo and lentil soup because he can't eat seafood. How nice are they???) Two of Wendy's friends were there, as well as Jim, Chantal, Karen, Sarah and Aisling. It's always so good to spend time with them. Wendy said that it was her birthday and she wanted to be reminded of different times in her life, and we are kind of a remote connection to Kenya. So we kind of have two honorary families here, the Eastwells and the Jarretts (Mike and Annette across the street). Three, if you count the Bunkers, my best Aussie mate Jess' family who I love to death!
