I'm a much better "blogger" in Australia than I am in Canada! We are on the go much of the time...and then the rest of the time is spent sleeping (so far the bed time has ranged from 8:30 - 9:30 pm every night and wake up time is anywhere from 6 am to 8 am (which is sleeping in!) Most of my computer time is spent looking for apartments, e-mailing real estate companies, and various other find a place related activities.

On finding a place here...it's much different. Perhaps part of it is the fact that *unemployed* doesn't look so great on a rental application. I've been here 4 days, what do you want from me??? Also quite strange is that it is the norm for apartments NOT to include a fridge. What's with that?? It's not like we're in Alaska! We can't just put our perishables out on the front porch! Odd indeed.

Last night during dinner (every night so far we've had lovely dinners outside) a huge beetle decided to pay us a visit. It buzzed around the roof of the back porch as I watched in apprehension, and then proceeded to wham itself down onto the table right in front of me. Um...pandemonium (sp??) may have ensued. Sorry for the shrieks, Indooroopilly. Of course, Jeremy found it quite funny and our hosts are used to these sorts of creatures (it's commonplace to find possums - dead or alive - in the wood stove...don't ask WHY they'd have a wood stove here, it's beyond me!)

Well, off to look at more apartments! Wish us luck - it's just terrible getting around here with the gorgeous weather and exceptional (and non-striking) transit system *wink*
